Sahale led restoration of the Duwamish Riverbend Hill Park in Tukwila, Washington between 2009 and 2010. Sahale was engaged by the Cascade Land Conservancy to construct a neighborhood park on a stone outcrop that overlooks the Duwamish River. The outcrop is a landmark feature of the lower Duwamish, a striking feature central to Salish Indian tradition, but it had been neglected and was subject to light industrial development before being acquired by the City of Tukwila and the Conservancy.
Sahale, behind Project Manager Martin Walz III and with support from the team at Avalon NW, spent five months on the 8.6 acre site, importing more than 1,000 yards of soil, moving 1,350 yards of soil, installing 12 tons of stone, and building a network of trails, stairs, and an interpretive area.
